English Speech Script (The importance of Education Toward Character Building)

When you visit this blog, I personally believe that you are the one who wants to learn how to make a speech script and be a good public speaker. This time I’d like to share the script of English speech. When you decide to join a speech competition,

The first thing comes out from your mind is “how will I begin to make a script which I’m going to memorize? How to make the great arragement of ideas? What’s the best idea should come first? Then what’s next?” well it’s natural you exprerience those.

A good speech script should consist of Greeting. This might have been familiar for us that it’s, I may say, a must for speakers to initiate their speech with greeting. The greeting becomes a way you will be accepted as standing in front of audience. Greetings are delivered to the ones who are most in charge of the events then come to the ‘lower’ people. Additional opening might be also needed for supporting your greating. Most ‘moslem’ speakers start the greeting by preface what we usually call “muqoddimah” followed by praises for God and Prophets.

Then following hesitations may haunt you such as “how can I memorize them all? How can I avoid being ‘Blank’ on the stage? Well it is simple. The more you practice, the more your confidence will rise. I might also suggest you not to be bored of practicing. When you push yourself to practice much, being bored just means you have enought excersise.

Below I’ll give the example of good English script.

Good morning

All praises be to Allah SWT, for giving us guidance. So that we can gather here in this beautiful day. And also may shalawat and salam be delivered to the best creature, our leader, our prophet, Muhammad SAW, because of him, our life now becomes bright.

Ladies and gentlemen
Nowadays, the current advancement in information and technology has required people to contribute in the world development. And one of the most influential aspects to gain the goal is through education.
However, the recent social phenomena show the increasing criminal behavior and lawbreaking in society, such as a mass clash and other various cases of moral decadence. Even several educated people dare to do corruption in high institutions. These are caused by the moral degradation of the individuals.
That’s why, in this occasion today I would love to discuss about the importance of education toward character building. Now, before we go further about this topic, it is better to know the definition of education. What is education? Education is a process that involves the transfer of knowledge, habits and skills from one generation to another through teaching, research and training. In fact, education is the most effective way of increasing economic growth, health, and reducing poverty. And what about character? Character is the particular combination of qualities in a person that makes them different from others such as honesty, leadership, trust, courage, and patience.

If people ask, is education strongly related to character building? My answer is yes. In my opinion, through character building, education will lead our next generation into a better morality.

Supporting this idea, the Rector of Atma Jaya University, Dr. Maryatmo says that the emotional and spiritual intelligence is important in building a strong, independent, and active character.

As the result, let’s see now, in 2013 curriculum, character building has been proposed to be taught to all students in Indonesia. This is one of the efforts that our government plans to establish the students’ personalities, to become a good human being, society, and citizens.  

Ladies and gentlemen

Character is just like a seed and education is the ground. So, if you plant your seed in the fertile ground, you will reap the good result.

So what can we conclude from this discussion? The goal of true education is building intelligence and character. And through education, people with a good character will be led to the better future.
